Child Custody
Child custody cases may effect and shape the lives of
every family going through divorce with minor children.
The attorneys at Victor and Victor are internationally
known for their teaching, lecturing, writings and
advocacy on protecting moms and dads, as well as the
rights of children, in every divorce.
Child/Spousal Support
The attorneys at Victor and Victor are very experienced
in handling cases that involve incomes at all levels, as
well as cases involving complex financial issues. Often
time this will impact the amount of child support that
will be paid, including whether the child support
guidelines should be deviated from and not followed.
Spousal Support or Alimony, as it is sometimes
referred to, involves similar issues, which require a
comprehensive understanding of the needs of the client;
the ability to pay; while always remembering that both
parties must survive at the conclusion of any divorce in
order to avoid acrimony and bitter feelings between the
adults involved.
Marital Agreements
The attorneys at Victor and Victor are sometimes asked
to draft prenuptial or postnuptial agreements. These are
contracts between adults who are either contemplating
marriage or who are already married. We recognize that
no one enters into a marriage with the intention of
divorcing; these agreements can be drafted so that in
the event the marriage ends in divorce, or a death, a
contract will control the distribution of assets and the
responsibility for liabilities.
Paternity
If a child is born out of wedlock, there are always
issues regarding custody, parenting time, support and
contribution toward medical expenses regarding the
child. Determining whether someone has legal rights as a
father to a minor child, as well as the protection of
the rights of the mother and child, are often delicate
situations. We are well aware of the arduous nature of
these cases and are proficient in resolving them.
Grandparents’ Rights
Richard Victor, the Senior and founding partner of
Victor and Victor, PLLC, is the founder and executive
director of the national nonprofit Grandparents Rights
Organization. He has been recognized throughout the
United States for helping create laws protecting the
rights of grandparents to have contact with their
grandchildren. Often times, during significant family
turmoil, children stop seeing their grandparents. We
know the importance of maintaining the continuity of
relationships in a child’s life and are renowned for our
expertise in this area of law.
Juvenile
Cases involving child neglect and delinquency are
governed by a separate set of rules within the family
court. Victor and Victor are very experienced in this
particular area of law and offer a wealth of knowledge
and skill to our clients. These types of issues can and
do frequently arise in divorce and custody proceedings.
Guardianships
Many times a family may experience some temporary
hardship, where they are unable to care for a child or a
family is caring for someone else’s child. We offer
legal assistance to families who seek legal authority to
care for such a child to ensure that child’s safety and
well-being.
