Richard S.Victor |
As a
recognized leader in Family Law, both in the state of
Michigan and nationally, and as author of Michigan
Family Law and Practice, Mr. Victor has taught
lawyers and judges that divorcing couples must realize
that divorce is an emotionally draining experience, born
from loss, which usually does not allow individuals to
think and act logically and emotionally at the same
time. By creating the concept of a more honest,
personalized and direct way to practice family law,
Richard Victor has instilled a new philosophy, in his
firm in order to bring integrity to the practice of
family law. Mr. Victor’s personal belief is that lawyers
who practice family law should have a higher duty to
their clients then in most other areas of law. At
Victor and Victor, PLLC, we know that the work that we
do not only affects our clients and our clients’
businesses, but will most probably affect our clients’
children, and future generations.
Founding Partner, Richard S. Victor is listed in Best
Lawyers in America; has been named a “Super
Lawyer” by Super Lawyers Magazine; has served
as President of the Michigan chapter of the American
Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and served on the
National Board of Governors of the Academy, receiving
its highest honor, National Fellow of the Year,
in 2006. He was elected chairperson of the Family Law
Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and received its
highest honor, the Lifetime Achievement Award, in
1999. In 2004 he was recognized for his leadership in
the practice of law by the State Bar of Michigan with
its highest honor, the Champion of Justice Award.
In 2000, he was asked to be a commencement speaker at
Michigan State University College of Law and was given
the law school’s National Alumni of the Year Award
in recognition for his commitment on behalf of children
and families going through divorce throughout the
country. He is the co-founder of Michigan’s parent
education program SMILE (Start Making It Livable for
Everyone); Founder of the national nonprofit
Victor Smile Foundation; Founder and
Executive Director of the national non-profit
Grandparents Rights Organization (GRO); and a
co-author of You and Me Make Three, a
nationally awarded children’s book dealing with children
of divorce
